MVSA Vehicle import approval:

  • All vehicles imported into Australia are subject to Import approval.
  • An import approval must be obtained before the vehicle arrives in Australia.
  • An import approval cannot be issued for vehicles after they have arrived.
  • You should allow up to 17 days from receipt of your application for the approval to be processed.

Vehicles under 15 years old:

  • Personal imports for vehicles under 15 years old are permitted if the following criteria is met:
  • Importer must be a Australian citizen or Permanent resident.
  • Must have used and owned the vehicle for 12 months continuous.
  • Duty rate is 15%, Import GST 10% based on CIF value + duty.

Vehicles over 15 years old:

  • May be import into Australia without restriction
  • Duty rate 15 %, Import GST 10% based on CIF value + duty

Vehicles over 30years old:

  • May be import into Australia without restriction.
  • Duty Free, Import GST 10% based on CIF value + Duty

Rally use + Closed circuit racing:

  • Eligible vehicles must meet certain criteria, please contact us for specific details.
  • Duty rate 15% however there are duty concessions for some vehicles please contact us for further concession information.
  • Import GST 10% based on CIF value + Duty.
  • CIF = ( cost,insurance,freight)
